THE Armand Rosamilia...

The Summer of Zombie Blog Tour is now in full swing. The conductor on this train is the gruff-but-cuddly Armand Rosamilia. (Yeah...I can say that. It originated on the last tour and I think he secretly likes it.) I am kicking it off with Armand because he is the guy who sends out the invites and puts it all together. Armand is the author of one of my fave reads of the year: Miami Spy Games: Russian Zombie Gun. If you have managed to miss this one so far, I say start here.

Anyways, enough of my babbling...take it away Armand!

Dont'cha just want to pinch those cheeks?!

Describe your first zombie “experience”?

I saw the original Night of The Living Dead as a kid on TV and it freaked me out like you would not believe. Up until that point I had no clue about zombies, and it stayed with me.

Favorite Dawn of the Dead (original) moment? Remake?

I am partial to the remake, actually. Probably my favorite zombie movie because I find myself watching it over and over. My favorite part is when they are telling the other guy with the gun to shoot certain 'celebrity' zombies like Burt Reynolds, Jay Leno and Rosie O'Donnell.

What is the last zombie book you read?

Besides my own while doing edits? The Zombie Wilson Diaries by Timothy W. Long.

What makes your story stand out from the masses?

I'd like to think I have something original and unique to say in my Dying Days series. It's more about the survivors and their interaction, but compound it with zombies who not only want to bite you but want to rape you, and I think you have a winner.

What will you tackle next? (If you are writing a series, what will you write after the series is over?)

There is always a ton of open projects on my plate. I'm just getting into the groove on a contemporary fiction set of stories (Flagler Beach Fiction Series), and Dying Days: Origins will be next in this zombie series. I tend to keep busy.

Worst reaction you have received about your writing?

I had a girlfriend who read Dark Hollow by Brian Keene and said 'Wow, that was great. Why can't you write like that?' Ouch.

And on the flip side, what is the best…the one that almost embarrassed you it was so effusive?

Um… meeting one of my fans in person and spending a wild weekend with her, and she was quite happy to be meeting one of her literary favorites… I'll leave it at that.

If any of your work was to be made into a film, which piece, and who is THE big star you would love to see in the leading role?

I would love to see Tool Shed made into a film, with Jonah Hill as Michael Zaun, in a big horror dramatic role for him. And then a bunch of other big stars to fill in the rest of the cast, and me in a cameo as a library patron.

What is the scariest movie you have ever seen?

"Beaches" with Bette Midler or "Blair Witch Project" in the theater and not knowing what it was opening weekend. I also sat in the front row.

What is something about you that would surprise your fans?

I am not a big fan of gory horror movies. I actually prefer psychological stories to blood and guts. Also, I am an excellent kisser.

What is in your “to be read” pile right now?

I have been reading everything Robert Chazz Chute has out, and I must say the guy is excellent! Look him up, his horror is great and his imagery is amazing.

  1. Doesn't he also read DARK HALLOW and say 'Damn, why can't I write like that?'?

  4. Great interview! I can see Tool Shed as a movie. When my movie comes out, I expect Tom Hanks to play my part and I'll be the double doing the sex scenes. You're not setting your sights high enough, bro! Shoot for the moon! Pardon the pun.
